Chicago Bomb Squad — help & frequently asked questions

Need help with something not covered below?
Email aswin@thegroovapp.com — include your device and OS version (e.g. "iPhone 14, iOS 26") and a screenshot if you can, it helps us track down the issue faster.

Getting the game

What's the difference between the web version and the app?

The web version is a free demo covering the O’Hare district. The full game — including the Riverwalk and The Loop cases — is on iOS: get Chicago Bomb Squad on the App Store. Sign in on both and your progress carries across.

Progress & accounts

How do I save my progress across devices?

Sign in from the Home screen ("Login to Save") or, if you're mid-level, from the sign-in prompt after finishing a district. You can sign in with Google, Apple (iOS only), or with an email address and password.

How do I sign out?

Home screen → Settings (next to Privacy Policy, visible once you're signed in) → Sign Out. This clears the app on your device and signs you out; your progress stays saved in your account, so signing back in restores it.

How do I delete my account?

Home screen → SettingsDelete Account. This permanently removes your account and all saved progress from our servers — it can't be undone. You don't need to email us for this.

Hints & auto-mark

How do hints and auto-mark work?

Every player starts with 5 free hints and 5 free auto-marks. A hint reveals one safe move; auto-mark clears every spot that's already ruled out by the current board. Once you're out, you can watch a short rewarded ad from within a level to refill them.

I watched an ad but didn't get my refill.

Rewarded ads occasionally fail to load or report back late — this is normal for mobile ad networks and not something we can fully prevent. Try again in a minute; if it keeps happening, email us with your device and OS version.

Gameplay

How do I restart a level?

The reset button in the level's action row clears every mark and press on the board so you can start that level over.

What are the rules?

Place exactly one device per row, one per column, one per colored zone, and never let two touch — even diagonally. Every level has exactly one solution; hints and auto-mark are there if you get stuck.
